Insomnia Cure, Anthroposophic Medicine

Finding Rest in an Overstimulated World

Modern life often leaves us overstimulated and under-rested. Caffeine, constant information, blue-light exposure from screens, emotional pressures, and demanding daily environments all keep our nervous system active long after the day is done.

From early schooling through adult life, many of us live in a state of continuous stimulation and stress. It is therefore no surprise that restful sleep can become difficult.

One simple exercise can help us gradually calm the mind and settle the soul.

If you find yourself awake at night, gently bring your attention to a single word. Just one word. Hold it quietly in your awareness and return to it whenever your thoughts begin to wander.

When I first began this practice, the word I focused on was simply “word.”

This may sound surprisingly simple, yet with patience and persistence, it can help train the mind to quieten and allow natural sleep to return.

Alongside such exercises, anthroposophical medicines and therapeutic approaches may also support those experiencing insomnia and nervous exhaustion.
